  • For the last time ever?

In which I think out loud about the concept of "for the last time, ever" and various bits of my life.

It's a weird concept "for the last time, ever". Ominous. Gloomy. Attach it to something otherwise bland, "Jon had a cup of tea", and it takes on a far more serious meaning, "Jon had a cup of tea for the last time, ever."

Now, some of these things are straight forward. By the end of this month, a lot of folks will be doing things on Xanga for the last time, ever. (I'll be one of them. -_-)

But what I find weird, and even interesting, are the "for the last time, ever"-s that fly under the radar. The ones that aren't thought about much until years down the road. Like, if you KNEW you were doing something for the last time, would you do things the same way?

It's kind of strange. For me anyway. I never feel like life has clear, well defined borders, neatly segmenting things into periods & eras. But looking back on things, it's a whole different story.

Like hanging out with friends, during student days.

Or the venerable tradition of Saturday Morning Cartoons.

Or playing videogames on some old consoles, like the Atari 2600, or the NES.

Or recording songs from the radio.

Or listening to songs recorded from a radio. On a walkman.

Hell, I'm at a point where I can look back on food & meals from many moons ago, that I had for the last time ever.

Now, I'd be lying if I said it's not tempting to want to dwell on the past, ranting about the good old days. (Before the dark times, before the prequels.) But, accepting the past for what it is, I find it fun to occasionally wonder how things might have gone down if I were aware that it was for the last time ever.

  • The People Search Engine

(With a buttload of thanks to @thesecretlifeofpandas. Without her I wouldn't have found out about this.)
Wanna know how much of your information is publicly available online?  Go to http://www.spokeo.com and type in your name, user ID, and/or city.  Go ahead.  I'll wait.
    Freaked out yet? :P
Rightie-o then. Spokeo offers an option to get your name, user ID, etc. unlisted.  Head on over to http://www.spokeo.com/optout and follow the instructions.  Preferably for every user ID you have.
The good news is, this gets you unlisted from Spokeo, so it becomes a little difficult from anyone to look up all the information you saw when you looked yourself up.
The bad news is, that information is still publicly available, floating around somewhere in the interwebz.
The worse new is, even when you delete something, like pictures, videos, posts, or accounts, there is a possibility the files and/or information is not physically deleted from the server, and can still be accessed directly.  (Or, even if they are deleted, copies of them are stored in a backup server somewhere, and still accessible by people & programs that know how to access them.)
    Anways... back to lurking.

  • Daily Draw February 2013 Days 23-28

Day 23 - An exercise.  Definitely an exercise, and not a failed attempt at drawing someone.  Yessiree... an exercise.

Day 24 - Some original bits for the ol' portfolio.  Clockwise from top left, an Archer, myself as a superhero, dark-revenger-of-thenight-type-dude and an oleumancer.

Day 25 - The Terminotter.  Because ... um ... LOOK AN OTTER!

Day 25, again - I call this "Thoresque".  More an experiment working with textures than anything else.  An experiment that, IMHO, didn't quite work out. -_-

Day 26 - Three Teen Titans.

Day 26 Part II - Ever notice how R2D2 looks kinda' like a Dalek?  Also, since both R2D2 AND Daleks lack any moving mouths, you can effective dub one's dialog/sound FX over the other?

Day 27 - Predotter.  Because ... um ... LOOK ANOTHER OTTER!

Day 28 - Last day.  I was unable to come up with an idea to draw, so I decided to draw myself unable to come up with an idea to draw.  I think.

Aaaaaand an official footer of sorts...

  • Daily Draw February 2013 Days 22

Er... Michael Bay's Nosferatu...?  Except, instead of a vampire, Count Orlock is an alien cyborg. And instead of drinking blood, he drinks brain fluids.  And instead of a castle, he lives in a transforming spaceship, prone to explosions.
